I was lucky to attend a national flag-raising ceremony
at Beijing Tian’anmen Square on the first day of
2018.

moment came at length. At 7:35 am, the national
flag of China was escorted by the guards into the
square and at 7:36 am, the five-star national flag began
rising, with all the people present singing the national
