Florence Nightingale was one of thegreatest women in history. She was a pioneer in the field of nursing.
Nightingale became interested in nursing atan early age but her parents wouldn't allow her to train as a nurse because atthat time nursing was not a respected job, but Nightingale was determined. In1854, she took along some nurses she'd trained and travelled to Turkey to carefor the soldiers during the war. Thanks to their hard work, many woundedsoldiers survived. She was named “The Lady with the Lamp” and thought of as ahero. In 1860, she formed a nursing school, which was the first school in the worldthat trained women to be professional nurses.
